Refugee Thon
Thon's Story!!Thon is one of at least a million, children in South Sudan, who have been uprooted by horrifying violence. But after fleeing bombs, he desperately needed a safe place to call home and education to help him achieve his dream. He crossed over to Kenya where he got good Samaritans AWF who paid for his transport to a rural place called Uriri. Here he got enrolled into Light Uriri a community based organization that runs a a home and a school. To begin his studies he had to pay tuition fees, get school uniform and books. On joining the school he did not know the local language nor the common language spoken around the country. He struggled to fit in, but luckily he was determined to achieve his dream of becoming a leader. This being his second year at Light Uriri he has shown a lot of improvement in class and outside classroom. He is among the best students in his class. He has not only learnt Swahili but he can also speak the local language. He is always neat and ready to learn new things. The good news is that he is a candidate next year and will be sitting the Kenya Certificate of Primary Education (KCPE).We take this opportunity to thank all those who made this possible.
